Completing Work Item Fields

As you work with work items you will interact with the data contained within the fields on the work item. This section will help you understand the different field types and their attributes.

While you are working with work item fields you may experience behavior that is different than described in this section. When this happens, contact your XTRAC administrator to inspect your operator profile to ensure it is correct for what you are trying to do.

Entering Field Data

A work item can include numerous fields that require various types of data. For example, a Customer ID field may require a social security number and will allow you to enter only numbers. An account number field may allow you to enter numbers and letters.

You can enter data manually or copy and paste data into the appropriate fields.

Some fields have a limit to how many characters are accepted. For example, a phone number field will accept only 10 digits. The field will not accept more digits even if you continue typing after the tenth digit is entered. If you copy and paste a number larger than 10 digits into the field, the number is truncated to 10 digits.

Note: Some fields let you to paste more characters into a field than you can enter manually. For example, if a field allows 18 characters, you will not be able to manually type any characters after the 18th character. However, if you paste data that has more than 18 characters into that same field, all the characters will be displayed in the field. When you move from that field, the outline of the field turns red indicating there is an error. When you place the cursor in the field, an error message displays indicating that the string is longer than the field allows.
