Dynamic Field Rule Detail (Action Tab)

Defines the action that XTRAC performs when the dynamic field rule evaluates as true.

This window is accessed by clicking the Dynamic Field Rule tab on a Common Field Group Detail window.

Fields

Name: A string of up to 30 characters that provides the unique name of the rule.

After you save, you cannot modify the name.

Description: A description of the rule (up to 60 characters).

Fields: A list of predefined and custom fields that are available to define the rule condition.

The fields that you select specify the work item fields that must match the specified condition for the rule to fire. See Predefined Fields and Available Criteria and Custom Fields.

The fields listed here are the fields used to define the work item rule for the subtype selected from the Show Rules On drop-down list box.

Visible: Whether the field is visible on the work item:

Note: You cannot hide the Item Type, Subtype, Status, or Memo field on a user-defined work item.

Create State: The attribute of each field on a work item that has the designated item type when the work item is created.

Note: Item Type and Status cannot have an Optional field attribute. These fields must have the Protected or Required attribute.

Update State: The attribute of each field on a work item that has the designated item type when the work item is updated:

Resolution State: The attribute of each field on a work item that has the designated item type when the work item is resolved:

Note: Item Type and Status cannot have an Optional field attribute. These fields must have the Protected or Required attribute.

Value Group: A subset of values that are available to the operator on the work item window for this field.

Note: For the Subtype field, this value group also determines the values that display in the Show Fields On drop-down list box.

Note: The value group on the dynamic field rule cannot contain values that are not in the value group on the work item rule. It can be only a subset of what is contained on the main screen.

Note: The default value for the value group cannot be set to blank. It can be set to only a default value that is part of the selected value group.

Valid Values: The list of values for the Value Group custom field. See Adding Values to a Custom Field.

Change Request ID: The ID of the request to create or modify this XTRAC record (up to 30 characters).

Memo: The reason why this XTRAC record was created or modified (up to 60 characters).

Buttons

History: Displays the history of the component, including the following details:

Save: Saves the changes that you made in this window.

Close: Closes this window.

If you made changes in the window and have not yet clicked Save, a warning displays that all of your changes will be lost. Click Yes to close the window and discard any changes. Click No to return to the window so you can save any changes.
