Performing a Basic Search

You can search for a work item based on the work item fields shown in the Basic Search page.

Work item numbers are unique. Searching by work item number returns only one work item. XTRAC does not need any other search criteria to help narrow the search.

All other fields on the Basic Search page are either primary search fields or secondary search fields:

The following search fields have interdependencies:

For detailed information about each of the Basic Search fields, see Basic Search.

To find a work item using Basic Search:

1.   Open a Search window using one of the following methods:
2.   Fill in the search criteria for each applicable search field.

Notes:

3.   (Optional) Select the Search All Parties check box to search every party associated with the work item.
4.   (Optional) Select the Include Resolved Items check box to include resolved items in the search results.
5.   (Optional) Select the Search for Process Instances check box to include different process instances in the search results.

When a business process is implemented by a split hierarchy, XTRAC returns the top-most split parent in that split hierarchy. If the entire business process is represented by a single work item, then XTRAC returns that one work item.

6.   Click the Search button or tab to the Search button and press the SPACEBAR.
7.   Note: To use the ENTER key to begin the search, make sure the Subtype field is not in focus. If it is, tab out of the field before pressing ENTER.

XTRAC initiates the search using the specified criteria. When XTRAC completes the search, the results appear. The Search Criteria page continues to display the fields involved in the search.
